Don On Duty

Castlewoods Resident, Don Hartness, spent Veterans Day doing what he does every patriotic holiday, standing at the intersection of Castlewoods Blvd. and Highway 25 waving a flag.

He assumes his position at daylight and stands there till dark - proudly displaying the American Flag and waving to passing motorist.  It's his way of paying tribute to the men and women who serve and have served in our military.

Don is also the person responsible for the flags flying from the light poles along Hwy 25 in Flowood.

If you missed our story about Don and the flags you can see it here.

Thanks Don for what you do.

Thank, Don, for honoring our service men and women, and reminding all citizens that the freedom we enjoy and take for granted hasn't always been that way. We can all thank the U.S. service men and women, of this and every generation who have sacrificed so much.

I haven't spoke to Don since those nut bags from Arkansas were in town. He is definitely a great guy doing his part. I commend him and encourage you to go meet him. I remember there was a crowd of people out that day.

Where is the credit to the rest of the people who were involved in the flag project on Hwy 25? Mayor Gary Rhodes, Rep. Mark Baker and Woodman of the World (the company that donated all of the flags) were all instumental in this project and deserve kudos. After all, there is no "I" in "Team"!

What about the other people who were standing on the corner with Don? I don't see them in the picture or their names mentioned?

Surely there are more qualifications to being Supervisor?! Being a good public speaker should be one of them, Don was heard calling a woman a "Witch" at a public meeting!

There were two people who stood with Mr. Hartness on this day and I am on of them.I believe he should keep the spot light after all he stood out there from early morning to late night. To the person complaining ,"I don't see you standing out there holding a flag in honor of you Country nor the Soldiers who are fighting and those who have fought for your freedom. And If it were not for Mr. Hartness going to the Mayor about the Flags then it would of never even been thought of.

True Christians don't need a spot light on them to show their good deeds. Many people support the military in ways that aren't seen on one corner, and don't need a ticker tape parade for doing so.....just saying

Dear Community,
As I tell everyone who comes by, it ain't about me. Everyone is welcome to support their country and service members and can stand with me at anytime. If my standing changes one heart about our soldiers, country, and our God, then it is all worth while.

To the person who questions Mr. Hartness being a christian "Maybe you should stop throwing stones" If your such a hater then maybe you need to worry about your own and no one else.
