Rankin Supervisor Meeting

The Rankin County Board of Supervisors met Tuesday, a copy of their agenda is available here.

At the meeting County Consulting Engineer, Charles Parker, gave the supervisors an update on the Old Fannin Road widening project.  He told the group that efforts are on hold pending approvals from MDOT.

The project involves state and federal money and requires MDOT's blessings before proceeding.  Mr. Parker told the supervisors that he has contacted Central Mississippi Transportation Commissioner, Dick Hall, to see if he can expedite the process. Once MDOT gives the county the green light the project can be put out for bids.

Part of the meeting was observed by 24 Rankin County school students who are part of the Rankin County Youth Leadership group.

The group, sponsored by the Rankin County Chamber of Commerce and the Mississippi State University Extension Service, learns leadership and business skills and visiting  various businesses and government operations around the county.
