Winter Wonderland Opening Soon

You might have noticed the flurry of activity at the old Rapids parking lot.

It's Nick Trees - they will be back this year selling fresh Christmas trees. And, like last year, a portion of each sale will be donated to Batson Children's Hospital at the University Medical Center.

But, this year there's more.

A big event for children  - Nick's Winter Wonderland will transform the area into a winter carnival. There will be rides, a petting zoo and food vendors.  Another fun addition will be the "Nick Train" - it's all aboard for an old fashioned train ride around the carnival.

Food?  They got it - funnel cakes, hot dogs and, what is sure to become a Christmas favorite, Fried Green Tomato Hamburgers will be available.  Three Rivers Restaurant will also have a booth so come hungry.

Tree sales will begin the day after Thanksgiving, the tent will be open 7 days a week from 9am till 9pm.  Nick's Winter Wonderland will open weekends - Friday from 3pm till 9pm -  Saturday and Sunday from 10am till 9pm.

A private event will be held the day before Thanksgiving for the Batson Hospital.  Current and former patients, staff and friends of the hospital will be enjoying the rides and food.

Buy a tree from Nick Trees and help Batson - a great deal.

How much of the sale goes to the hospital?

This sounds like a fun and I hope it's a great success!

Will the OD help to prevent this type of travesty?

@10:12 - Who said it is a travesty? You must be either a grench or an a$$ hole.

Grench? Is that a new word?

Under the authority of the OD this type of activity could/would be judged, evaluated, taxed, and probably shut down b/c they don't want "their ideals" to be compromised by a drive-by business. Remember, they are all about commercial zoning?

You are making an assumption are you not? Dealing with probability and speculation. I think you will find that it has be permitted (did you check) by both the PRV and the county as it is for a good cause and it is thought that both the children and their parents will enjoy. So, what do you see as the problem?

So you presented to the PRV and you didn't let any of the HOA's know. Who is hiding an agenda here?

@8:23 I presented nothing. The people who are selling the trees are the ones that presented a request which was approved. You are a paranoid.

Our k4/5 classes drove to Nick's parking lot (no winter wonderland in sight) from Louisville for a field trip today. What a terrible waste of time and money!
