Craftsmen's Guild Recognized By USA TODAY

USA Today Names Mississippi Craft Center
Gallery One of Ten Places to Shop

"Anyone who thinks American ingenuity has faded hasn't visited a craft gallery. From vibrant quilts to such edgy creations as handmade decorative robots, artisans are constantly at work." USA Today

The Mississippi Craft Center Gallery was named one of the Ten Places to shop for handcrafted this holiday season. Wendy Rosen, editor of American Style magazine, chose her top ten favorite galleries in the nation for handcrafted work.

"It's (the Mississippi Craft Center) one of the country's top non-profit galleries, Rosen says. "They're having a banner year." She suggests looking for folk art, recyclables, dolls, glass and pottery at the Center.

Featuring the work of more than 400 artisans, the Mississippi Craft Center has been named the "Travel Attraction of the Year" by the Mississippi Tourism Association and a "Top Three Galleries in the Southeast" by AAA in Travel South Magazine.

"The rest of the country is just discovering what those of us in Mississippi have known for a long time," stated Julia Daily, Executive Director of the Craftsmen's Guild of Mississippi that operates the Mississippi Craft Center. "This is truly a remarkable place with products by the most talented artisans."

Located at 950 Rice Road, Ridgeland, MS, and a satellite in Fondren at 2906 North State Street in Jackson, MS, the galleries of the Mississippi Craft Center promote locally made and the work of the hand.

The Mississippi Craft Center in Ridgeland is open 7 days each week, from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. and is closed only four days per year. The Mississippi Craft Center at Fondren Corner in Jackson is open Monday-Saturday, from 10:30 a.m.-5:50 p.m.
