Search Continues For Missing Boater

Press Release From The Reservoir Patrol

Search for Missing Boater Enters Fourth Day

Search and Rescue Personnel resumed their search for a missing boater this morning. Officers from the Reservoir Patrol, Mississippi Department of Wildlife Fisheries and Parks and the Rankin County Sheriff’s Office along with Rescue Personnel from the Lake Harbor Fire Department began their search at 8 AM today. Personnel from the American Red Cross were also on scene to support the rescuers and the family of the victim.

The Missing Boater has been identified as Larry Wayne Thomas, 64, of Jackson, Mississippi.

“Unfortunately severe weather hampered our efforts much of the day yesterday.” Stated Perry Waggener, Chief of the Reservoir Patrol. “Even with the storms Thursday morning, The Metro One Law Enforcement Helicopter was able to assist our boats in the water with an Arial search in the early afternoon.  Today we have five boats in the water and expect Metro One to join us again in the afternoon.”
