Rankin Deputies Nab Rez Burgler

Deputies Arrest Suspect At
Residential Burglary in Progress

Sheriff Bryan Bailey Reports:

Over the past three weeks the Rankin County Sheriff's Office has received reports of several residential burglaries in neighborhoods off of Spillway Road in the Reservoir Area. Cash, jewelry and prescription drugs had been stolen.

At approximately 3:04 p.m. on Wednesday, deputies responded to the report of a burglary in progress at a private residence on Oak Drive in the Forest Point Subdivision.

Deputies Brad Smith, Tony Netherland, Wes Shivers and Investigator Randy Chatham arrived within minutes, secured the residence and apprehended a Rankin County man inside the house, subsequently identified as Garrett Lee Fairbanks, a 29 year old male of 113 Wildwood Lane (Bellgrove subdivision)  Brandon, MS.

Chief Investigator Tim Lawless and Investigator Chris Ainsworth, who have been investigating the other burglaries in the area, responded to the scene and subsequently identified Garrett Lee Fairbanks as the suspect who had allegedly committed several of the other burglaries in the area.

Investigating officers also recovered more stolen property from Garrett Lee Fairbanks pickup truck at the scene and from his residence. Garrett Lee Fairbanks was charged by deputies with Burglary and Possession of Burglary Tools. Garrett Lee Fairbanks is in jail awaiting an initial appearance in Rankin County Court.

This man will be facing a Rankin County Jury.

The citizens who provided information to the investigating officers in this case are a good example of this community supporting the Sheriff's Office.

Bet that is our gas thief. We live in Forest Point and for the last few weeks someone has been "borrowing" gas from our car at night. We bought a locking gas cap over the weekend. Glad they caught him! Thankful to whomever noticed and reported him.

To that end a letter commending those involved goes a long way. It only takes a few minutes, but means so much.

I suspected he lived in Bellegrove before even reading the article. No surprise there. Great job nabbing this fool.

Something wrong with Bellegrove? I live there!

I wish big Wes Shivers could have got his hands on him and beat him down. Great job RCS Dept! Yes there is something wrong with Bellegrove, he lives there......

According to the article, the sheriff's office didn't catch this guy because of proactive patrolling, they reacted to a call. ANY department, including Jackson, can catch a buglar when called to the scene. The thanks should be given to an alert citizen.

Alert citizens, one I know personally, witnessed the suspect and alerted authorities. Thanks to my friend and his neighbor for being alert to contact the S.O.(not the PRV patrol).
Perhaps this is the fellow who broke into several cars a few months ago in neighboring Harbourview subdiv and stole several items including a handgun?
To this day no word from an investigator from Rankin s.o. on that rash of thefts along Lakeide drive.
