Cashier Arrested For Credit Card Fraud

Samuel Thompson
Sheriff Bryan Bailey Reports:

Rankin County Sheriff’s Department Deputies arrested Samuel Lee Thompson, a 23 year old from Nashville Street, in Jackson for Credit Card Fraud on February 9th, 2012.

On February 3rd, 2012, the sheriff’s office received a complaint from a Rankin County resident that she had been a victim of credit card fraud. The complainant was shopping at a local business (TRN note: reportedly Kroger on Spillway)  when she started having difficulty with her debit card while checking out.

The cashier, Samuel Thompson, offered to help the victim. When he did, he watched her enter her PIN number. At the end of the transaction the Thompson swapped the victims debit card for another.

When Thompson left work, he took the debit card and pin number and made $600.00 worth of unauthorized purchases on the stolen card.

During the investigation, another victim was identified and was found to be defrauded of one thousand dollars. When Samuel Thompson was arrested, investigators found that he had an outstanding warrant for his arrest for embezzlement in Madison County.

Samuel Thompson posted bond at the Rankin County Jail and was released to Ridgeland Police Department.
