HB 515 Passes House

Rep. Mark Baker discussing HB515

Rep. Mark Baker's HB515 passed the Mississippi House Thursday afternoon.  The bill would allow county boards of supervisors to pass ordinances that target a defined area of a county.  Currently any ordinance passed by a county board applies county wide.

Rep. Baker said the bill could be used to pass ordinances targeting areas like overlay districts.

The house vote was 96 for and 17 against.

The bill now moves to the Senate.
