Operation Bunny Hop II

Beginning Thursday, April 5th through Sunday, April 8th, the Hinds County Sheriff's Office, in cooperation with other central Mississippi law enforcement agencies, will engage in Operation Bunny Hop II.

The main goal of this Operation will serve as the foundation of how area law enforcement agencies is responding to criminal activity and improving the quality of life for our citizens and visitors, as well as establishing our proactive approach to crime prevention while increasing visibility.

The purpose of this multi-jurisdictional exercise is to ensure a safe Easter holiday for families in and around Hinds County area.

“We want people to feel secure while attending cook outs, Easter egg hunts and other community events this weekend. Not only in Hinds County but in our neighboring counties as well,” said Sheriff Tyrone Lewis, “We are striving for an atmosphere of cooperation and information sharing with the participating departments.”

Agencies joining the HCSO as “Partners Against Crime” are:

Madison County Sheriff’s Office
Rankin County Sheriff’s Office
Warren County Sheriff’s Office
Jackson Police Department
Clinton Police Department
Byram Police Department
Raymond Police Department
Terry Police Department
Utica Police Department
Bolton Police Department
Edwards Police Department
Pearl Police Department

In addition to this initiative, the US Marshal Task Force will be serving warrants to non-compliant sex offenders in these counties and municipalities. It is state law that individuals convicted of sex crimes carry identification declaring their offender status and register with the county in which they reside after release from incarceration.
