Rankin School Board Meetings

Ever wonder if anyone comes to the Rankin County School District Board of Education meetings?

Take a look.

A standing room only crowd of over 250 people attended Wednesday's meeting.

While the Board does conduct the business of the RCSD, a large part of the meeting is devoted to recognition of outstanding students, faculty members and employees of the the District.

We'll show you a few of those students in a later post.

Wednesday's meeting opened up with the following video - it highlights the Rankin County School District's "Teacher of the Year", Amanda Cox, and  two teachers recently recognized by the Greater Jackson Chamber Partnership - Cindy Cook, a science teacher at Puckett HS and Brian Edwards, an agriculture teacher at Pelahatchie HS.  Also featured is the District's "Parent of the Year", Martin Keil.

Congratulations to all the winners!

Rankin Co. schools can't keep up with either Clinton or Madison Co. and what we get at board meetings is a political rally. When will the classroom shortage be addressed. People moved to Rankin Co. to escape Jackson Public Schools and moved into a rat hole.
