RCSD Star Students And Teachers

Star Students and Star Teachers

Brandon, MS – Rankin County School District honored nearly 475 high school seniors who scored 22 or higher on the American College Test (ACT). Students from Brandon, Florence, McLaurin, Northwest Rankin, Pelahatchie, Pisgah, Puckett and Richland were in attendance at the awards ceremony held in the Brandon High School multipurpose room. Michael Guest, District Attorney for Madison and Rankin Counties was guest speaker.

Students scoring 28 and higher on the ACT were given the high honor designation and students with a score of 22-27 were named to the honor category. Star Students and Star Teachers were also recognized during the ceremony. The graduating senior student from each school with the highest ACT score, in addition to a high grade point average, is named its Star student. Once selected, the student chooses a teacher who has made the greatest impact on his or her academic career.

Star Students and Star Teachers for 2011-2012 are Brandon HS: Andrew Wilson and Kristie Hughes; Florence HS: Alex Gunter and Lisa Byrd; McLaurin HS: Jacob Pruett and Steve Pruett; Northwest Rankin HS: Nicholas Pettit and Jennifer Wilson; Pelahatchie HS: Ashley Johnson and Donna McMillan; Pisgah HS: Taylor Porter and Amy Hunt; Puckett HS: Lauren Anderson and Elizabeth Cook; Richland HS: Jessica Saulters and Amy Rummage.
