Bids In For Old Fannin Road Project

Bids were opened this morning at the Rankin County Board of Supervisors office for the widening project for Old Fannin Road.

Six firms submitted bids. 
The results:

Hemphill Construction      $12,130,746.00

Eutaw Construction         $13,744,450.65

Joe McGee Construction     $13,974,926.35

Southern Rock LLC          $11,717,341.00

Jay Bearden Construction   $13,793,982.85

Superior Construction      $15,869,126.88

The bids will be reviewed by county personnel who plan to make a recommendation to the board of supervisors at a meeting Thursday, May 24th at 9:00 a.m.

Once the contract is awarded the paperwork begins - bids and forms are sent to MDOT for their review and approval.  Once MDOT approves the contract the project will begin.  

County officials believe that it will be late summer before construction begins.

What are we supposed to look at? You have some sort of "inside" information you would like to share?

Didn't Southern Rock go bankrupt on another area project some years ago? And they are the lowest bidder again... I heard the bonding company had to finish it. Wasn't is the 4 laneing of Lake Harbor or something like that a few years ago?
