Storm Capsizes Two Rez Boaters

A powerful storm blew across The Rez shortly after 1 p. m. Monday causing problems for 3 boaters.  One boat was reported blown against the rocks near Windward Bluff, a fishing boat capsized in Pelahatchie Bay and a catamaran capsized in the main lake.

According to scanner traffic the Reservoir Patrol recovered the passenger of the fishing boat in Pelahatchie Bay and took him to Pelican Cove landing in Audubon Point, he was not seriously injured.  SeaTow was called to recover the boat.

Ken Allen and Ian LaCour were at the Jackson Yacht Club when they noticed a small sailboat capsize in the main lake, they launched a JYC powerboat and went to help the craft.  Once the Hobie 16' catamaran was upright they towed it and it's two passengers to the beach at the Jackson Sailing Association near Madison Landing.  The sailors had a rough ride but were uninjured.

The Reservoir Control Tower reported wind speeds of 42 mph.
