Two Suspects Arrested by Rankin County Deputies in Connection to Reservoir Area Automobile Burglaries.

Rankin County Sheriff, Bryan Bailey reports:

Rankin County Sheriff’s Department Deputies and Investigators arrested Dillon Ellis Lewis and Justin Timothy Barr around noon today for automobile burglaries in northern Rankin County.

Over the past two weeks, the Rankin County Sheriff’s Department has responded to more than 20 automobile burglaries in northern Rankin County subdivisions. In most cases the suspects gained entry into unsecured vehicles and took mainly electronics, weapons, jewelry and assorted other items.

Deputies received a break in the case when a citizen called in a tip after seeing the composite drawing of the suspect in the local media. The citizen provided a description of the suspects and the suspect’s vehicle. Investigators were able to identify Lewis and Barr as suspects and tracked them down.

Deputies executed search warrants on both of the suspect’s residences and recovered a large amount of stolen property.

Lewis and Barr are both in the Rankin County Jail awaiting an initial appearance Tuesday morning before Rankin County Court Judge Kent McDaniel.

Sheriff Bailey states “This case was solved through the combined efforts of the media, our citizens, and the hard working men and women of the Rankin County Sheriff’s Department.”
