@1:24 Do you have any idea of what you are talking about. If the area that Pearl wants is passed to them it will cost RCSD about 5 to 6 million a year is taxes but will reduce the students by about 500 which may help to keep school construction down some time in the future. But not by much. From what I have seen there is no way that they can keep NWR High and the middle school with out a new building.

People of Rankin County just aren't getting the importance of this decision. RCSD gives away this area, EVERYBODY'S taxes go up! They give away this area to Pearl, they have to make up the lost revenue in higher taxes. They have stated that at a board meeting. I don't care if you don't like the current administration, do you want to pay more taxes?! The fact that Ruth Burgess, who represents the areas in question, is fine with throwing away these areas is baffling. Why she chooses to get in bed with Cecil McCrory who is a blatant liar about his business relationships with PPSD and Pearl and with David Farmer (you're a grown man, use a grown man's name) who simply votes against whatever the superintendent is in favor of whether he has ANY knowledge of the subject or not is mind boggling. I guess she has no backbone. She's got to go at then next election and I know several willing to show her the door.

The overcrowding at NWR hs not happened overnight!
Poor leadership brought us a horrible bond issue that was easily defeated.
We need fresh new blood on the school board, someone that has children in the school.

@7:13 - Perhaps you are right how about you running for school board. To qualify to be on the board you need 50 people to sign a partition and go to the court house on August 8 and sign up to run. The pay is $200 a month and the liability is great. I don't think anyone on the board at present has children in any of the RCSD schools and only two of the five districts are up for election in November. District 3 and 4.

Is health insurance included in the package?

To Governors - You are right about the pay and you also assume personal liability for many things not directly under board control!!It costs to serve!!! No Health insurance and no retirement!! One board member has two children in county schools and two other members have grandchildren in Rankin county schools. The two who always vote against everything have no children or grandchildren in RCSD (Burgess & Farmer).
