Rankin School District Meets Wednesday Morning.

The Rankin County School Board will meet next Wednesday morning at the District headquarters in Brandon.  The last two meetings have contained heated exchanges over the RCSD's recent vote to explore settlement options in a lawsuit filed by Pearl against the RCSD.  The issue is land that is currently in the RCSD and Pearl is seeking to have the land transferred into the Pearl Public School District.

Looking at the "report card" on the Jackson Jambalaya page, schools in Rankin County suck compared with Madison Co. and Clinton.

There's no reason why Rankin Co. schools should perform so poorly.

Rankin Co. schools actually have more money to spend per pupil and can't hang with Madison Co. and Clinton.

According to the scores, Brandon High School is embarrassing. NW Rankin scores best in the county but far below Madison Central and Clinton.

Schools systems with far less money are leaving Rankin Co. in their dust.

I don't expect Rankin Co. to ever get any better.

Leadership is rotten. The superintendent is not an educator. He's a politician.

Looking at the scores, parents in the zone the Pearl school system is trying to annex should be grateful. Pearl's scores are much higher that any schools in Rankin Co. except NW Rankin.

This is really sad.
