NWRHS Grand Opening For S.T.A.R.T Center



Northwest Rankin High receives $20,000 grant for student and community career center

Grand Opening scheduled for Monday, August 27, 4-6 p.m., NWR High Library


Brandon, Miss. – The Mississippi Department of Education has awarded Northwest Rankin High School (NWR) with a $20,000 grant for Mississippi’s first S.T.A.R.T. Center – Student, Teacher, and Adult Research and Technology Center.

The public is invited to a grand opening on Monday, August 27, 4-6 p.m. at NWR’s Library. Attendees can tour the Center and try out new research databases as well as enjoy refreshments and a chance to win door prizes.

The S.T.A.R.T. Center expands the traditional high school college and career center and makes those services available to the local community. NWR’s Library and Media Center will be open daily during school hours, extended hours every other Tuesday evening, and upon special request. Patrons will have access to online courses, research and information on job preparation, test preparation, literacy skill development, and other services.
