Rankin Schools Morn Loss of Long Time Educator

STATEMENT FROM RANKIN COUNTY SCHOOL DISTRICT 
SUPERINTENDENT DR. LYNN WEATHERSBY


"Our entire Rankin County School District family is deeply saddened at the passing of Assistant Superintendent Matthew Evans. He passed away yesterday evening playing basketball.

He was a valued member of our RCSD family for 31 years where he provided outstanding leadership to multiple programs and schools within our district. He was a well-respected educator and we will all miss him.

Matthew was a lifelong resident of Rankin County and a graduate of Pisgah High School and Mississippi College where he was an outstanding athlete. He was a devoted husband, father and brother and our thoughts and prayers are with his family: his wife, Lois, and three children."

  • 55 years of age

    • Dropout Prevention

    •  Supervised Puckett HS, Pisgah HS, Pelahatchie HS, The Learning Center, McLaurin HS, Richland HS, and Richland Upper Elementary School
  • Outstanding Athlete
    • Played Varsity basketball at Mississippi College, at that time an NCAA Division II school, under Coach Doug Hines
    • Member of MC’s M-Club
