Harvest Festival at the Ag Museum

One of the goals of The Rez News is to inform our reader(s) of interesting and enjoyable events happening in or near the Rez community.  I will tell you of recreational opportunities provided by the City of Flowood, the Museum of Natural Science, the Jackson Zoo, the Children's Museum, the PRV, etc.  We ought to take advantage of local, cultural offerings; it's good to get out and do something.  I hope you don't mind.

One of the events happening in our area is the Harvest Festival put on by the Mississippi Ag & Forestry Museum.  It is running now through November 10, between the hours of 9 a.m. and 2 p.m., and has quite a bit to offer.
The general premise is to allow the patron to "Experience Small Town Mississippi Come to Life."  Blacksmithing and printing demonstrations are available, along with operating saw mills, cane mills, grist mills, and a cotton gin.

There are wagon and train rides for children (for $1), complimentary biscuits, live music, barnyard animals, etc.  On Saturday only, antique vehicles, tractors and quilts will be displayed.

Admission is $5 for adults, $3 for kids aged 5-18, and $1 for tots age 3-4.  This price includes the museums of Agriculture and Forestry, 4-H and National Agricultural Aviation, along with the grounds.  Call 601.432.4500 for more information.
