Lakeland Drive Shut Down Near River

Downed power lines caused authorities to shut down both lanes of traffic on Lakeland Drive the Pearl River Bridge earlier this morning.  The cause was apparently a power pole that snapped around 2 a.m.  As of 7 a.m., authorities opened up Lakeland Drive for rush hour traffic.  However, Lakeland will again shut down at 9 a.m. for further work.

A look at the MS Department of Transportation's traffic cams indicates that as of 7:17 a.m., traffic is moving smoothly.  Take a look at the camera yourself here.

See the Clarion Ledger write up here.

And, some more bad news.  Due to an accident at the Airport Road exit, all traffic eastbound on Interstate 20 is shut down until approximately 9:30 a.m.  It is a parking lot out there.  Therefore, if you must access I-20 from Rankin County, do it in Pearl.
