AJ's has shuttered its doors (and it's website). Hope you weren't holding on to that gift card. This makes, what, the third restaurant at that location to go under? Oby's Deli, Creole (something), and now AJ's. Am I missing one? Has there been a fourth restaurant there?
Jackson Jambalaya is reporting Georgia Blue is the next to take a stab at the location. Here is a copy of Georgia Blue's Menu. Wow. Looks pretty good.

I've noticed that too. I don't know what it is about that location. For 6 years my office was just down the road, and I went to lunch at pretty much every restaurant around there, from high end to fast food, except I never went to that one (I think it was Oby's and Creole at the time)...and for no particular reason, just that I didn't ever think to go there. Seems like it should be a good location, so maybe it's just the building or the signage or something. I would love to hear from someone who worked there as to why they think that location just doesn't work well.
Probably too small for an iHop or Marie Callener's.
It's not IHOP, but how about a Jackson location for Big Bad Breakfast? I think we are on to something.
Red robin, Yum!
I heard that Georgia Blue was opening there.
So, the Rankin County Republican club will not be meeting there?
Oby's - Poorly managed, slow service, loved the food.
Creoles - wasn't open long enough for me to try it, or at least was never open when i went by at meal times
AJ's - Ate there several times, good food, overpriced, service was hit and miss... Since is this one of several AJ's locations that has closed or moved, may not be the location. May be mismanagement!
Next? Could have been Crechales, or any other restaurant fleeing the crime...
There is a "Now Hiring" sign out front and a Georgia Blue
catering truck. I saw activity in there yesterday.
I have some friends that were seated for dinner the night they closed, and they told them to leave.
