The Outlets of Mississippi

Remember that outlet mall that was to be built near Trustmark Park/Bass Pro Shop in Pearl:  The Outlets of Bloomfield?  Talk of this mall began in 2004.  It shuffled a bit in its hidden den and produced a press release indicating a projected opening date of November 2013.  That's only eight months away, shoppers.

The name has been changed to The Outlets of Mississippi.  It will consist of 325,000 square feet of retail (that's over 80 different stores).  Anticipated stores include Saks Fifth Avenue Off Fifth, Nike, J. Crew, Johnston and Murphy, White House/Black Market, Gap, Banana Republic, American Eagle, and everyone's favorite outlet mall staple, Rocky Mountain Chocolate.

I've posted some marketing materials below that contain artists renderings.  Interesting.  A more complete listing of the "already signed" stores can be found here.

The Bloomfield web address is linked here, in case you are looking for more information.

Between the stores listed on the mbj site and the artist's rendering, this outlet mall looks and feels like the one in Destin.

Not so sure those higher end retailers would go over well in a population heavily dependent on government subsidies.

I can't wait for this to happen!! However, I am also concerned about these nice, new, high end stores being over run by the "government subsidies" crowd from Jackson.

Outlet malls draw people from other areas. That is why location along an interstate is the usual setting.
