DA Michael Guest Announces Sentencing for Rez Area Burlgar

Rankin/Madison County District Attorney Michael Guest announced today on his webpage the sentencing of Gregory Tyler Moore.  You may recall, Moore was apprehended in or around the Pelahatchie Woods Subdivision after fleeing from authorities.  Here is part of the press release:

Madison and Rankin Counties’ District Attorney Michael Guest announced today that Gregory Tyler Moore was sentenced to serve 60 years after pleading guilty to a series of home and automobile burglaries that occurred in 2012. The last 10 years of the sentence was suspended and Moore will be placed on probation after he has completed the service of the first 50 years of the sentence.
From January 2012 until December 2012 Moore broke into dozens of vehicles and several homes throughout Rankin County. Deputies from the Sheriff’s Department were able to develop Moore as a suspect after he and another individual attempted to sell a stolen Wii gaming console. A search of Moore’s home revealed the clothes a witness had reported that the defendant had worn at one of the burglaries. Also recovered from the residence was property taken from one of the previous burglaries.

If you are keeping score at home, that is a 60 year sentence, with 50 to serve for a 21 year old.  How unintelligent do you have to be to commit a crime in Rankin County?

Basically a life sentence for property crimes. I don't even know what to think about that... What's the saying from that Demotivator poster? "It could be that the purpose of your life is only to serve as a warning to others."

I guess you've never had anybody to break into your property and STEAL your possessions that took HARD work to buy. I guess you could say he got off easy, had it be the right house, he would have been hauled away in the back of a Coroner's wagon.

60 years is ridiculous. This kid could have murdered these people and just got 20 years. This is justice for no one.

This is absolutely ridiculous...another shameful example of legal system abuse. This kid probably needs help not to become another failure of american society. He will always be on the government payroll because he will not be able to get a job if he survives and gets out of jail. Hopefully he will get an appeal with a judge with better sense.

DA Guest had the opportunity to change the landscape of the public schools in Rankin County if he had prosecuted Lynn Weathersby for the attempted extortion, he took a pass.
This truly is shameful !
