Free Rides Home Tonight

Below is from the WAPT website:

The National Council on Alcoholism and Drug Dependence, The McCoy House for Sober Living and American Medical Response will offer a ride to holiday revelers who do not have a designated driver.
From 11 p.m. Dec. 31 to 3 a.m. Jan. 1, those needing a ride can call 601-368-2323 to schedule a ride. The service will travel as far east as Brandon, west as far as Clinton, north as far as Madison and south as far as Terry.
Volunteers from NCADD and The McCoy house will take calls and will ask for the caller's name, location, number of riders and those riders' destinations.
AMR will provide drivers from the ambulance company's workforce and six 15-passenger vans. The drivers will only take revelers home, not to another party, bar or club, organizers said.
The project mainly focuses on patrons of bars and restaurants, such as those on State Street in downtown Jackson, organizers said. The vans will also respond to parties at private homes when the drivers aren't busy transporting restaurant and bar patrons.
"By focusing first on bar and restaurant partiers, we will keep a larger number of alcohol-impaired folks from getting behind the wheel," said AMR operations manager Stan Alford. "In recent years, more requests for rides have come from establishments than from private parties."
Alford urged party hosts to have a plan in place to prevent intoxicated guests from driving.
This is the 17th year for the project. Last year, 237 people were given rides as part of the Safe Ride Home project.
