Rankin County Chancery Court Issues Order Voiding Same-Sex Marriage Registration

Jackson Jambalaya posted an Order from the Chancery Court of Rankin County, Mississippi, whereby the two Rankin County Chancellors rendered void a same-sex marriage registration filed in Rankin County recently.

Background:  Pursuant to Mississippi law, same-sex marriages are not recognized in this State.  Whether you are for or against it, the laws of Mississippi simply don't allow for same-sex marriage.  Two Rankin County women, married pursuant to the laws of the State of New York (which does allow it), attempted to register their marriage here in Rankin County.  The Chancellors did not mince words when describing the knowing "subterfuge" committed by the women who registered the marriage.  The Chancellors also took this opportunity to chide the women for, in the Court's opinion, abusing the court system for the sake of self-promotion.
