This Week at the Rez Email

This week's email from PRVWSD.  A lot of good stuff here:

Parks closed on Saturday
Both Lakeshore Park in Rankin County and Old Trace Park in Ridgeland will be closed to the public Saturday, Sept. 13. In addition, the walking trail through Old Trace Park will close at 10 a.m. on Saturday. The parks, which have been reserved for a private function, will reopen to the public on Sunday at the regular time.

Rankin Resort Area vote on Sept. 23
Registered voters of Rankin County who live on PRVWSD property will decide on Sept. 23 if the District’s lands in their county will have Resort Area status. Only one polling place will be used, the Rankin Reservoir Community Center at 2232 Spillway Road, and it will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Absentee votes can be cast prior to Saturday, Sept. 22, at the Rankin County Circuit Clerk’s office in Brandon.

Smokin’ music lineup set
The 2nd annual Smokin’ on The Rez BBQ and Music Festival will be held Oct. 24-25 at Old Trace Park in Ridgeland. In addition to the Memphis BBQ Network-sanctioned cooking contest, the music lineup on the ComCast stage is sure to please all tastes.   Friday night’s show is a combination of blues and rock, kicking off with DoubleShotz opens at 5 p.m., followed at 7 p.m. by Mr. Sipp, the “Mississippi Blues Child” and winner of the 2014 Memphis International Blues competition.   Saturday’s lineup starts with local groups Stogdaddy and the Good Time Band at 11 a.m.; Bill Ellison, Temperance Babcock and Jeff Perkins at 1 p.m.; and, Acoustic Crossroads at 3. Two Nashville-based groups will close the show. HanaLena, which features a pair of Starkville native sisters, will take the stage at 5:30 and the LoCash Cowboys will give the crowd a contemporary country musical feast beginning at 7:30.
