Candidates Who Qualified for Rankin County Elections -- Updated

As of 2:30 p.m., January 7, 2015, three individuals had qualified for the job of Superintendent of Education in Rankin County:  Sue Townsend, Richard Morrison, and Bobby J. Franklin.

Judge John Shirley has an opponent in Tommy Whitfield for Justice Court Judge, District 2 (Reservoir).

Daniel Cross and Derrel Palmer qualified for Supervisor, District 2 (Reservoir).

Bob Morrow and Mike Walker qualified for Supervisor, District 3 (parts of Brandon, Puckett, Robinhood).

Tony Gilmer qualified for Coroner.

Incumbents for Chancery Clerk, Circuit Clerk, Tax Assessor, Tax Collector, County Attorney, Constables, Justice Court Judges, and Sheriff all qualified for re-election.

In the state house of representatives, all Rankin Republican incumbents filed for reelection with the exception of Andy Gipson.  Tom Weathersby appears to have picked up an opponent for the primary, to wit, Wesley Wilson.

In the Senate, Dean Kirby is the only one of three state senators from Rankin County to file so far.

The qualifying deadline isn't until February 27, I believe, so we still have plenty of time to add to the list.
