Welfare Fraud Prevention Bill Introduced by Rez Legislator

State Senator, Josh Harkins, serving District 20, which includes the Reservoir, recently introduced the following bill, SB 2480, which, if passed, would create the Welfare Fraud Prevention Act.  Senator Harkins describes the bill as follows:

This will require the agencies of the state that provide public assistance [to] monitor the eligibility of those participating in those programs in real time. This includes Medicaid, DHS, MS Dept of Employment Security and any other agency [that] provides public assistance.
Illinois and Pennsylvania have both enacted similar legislation and they have saved hundreds of millions of dollars.
