Lake Vista Storage is Back

Remember Lake Vista Storage?  Here is the original post.  The last we discussed, Willie Gavan, Inc., the owner of the property at issue in that matter withdrew its request for a conditional use variance in the zoning laws.  Willie's back.

Willie Gavan, Inc., resubmitted its conditional use and variance application for Lake Vista Storage. The Planning Commission will meet on April 2, 2015, to discuss, and a public meeting will take place on May 4, 2015.  Both of those meetings are open to the public.

You have a point. The land upon which the Tunnel Car Wash "Coming Soon" sign is (or at least was) General Commercial District (C-2) as well. Now that you bring it up, I see where a Mr. Robert Lloyd requested a conditional use variance at the October 6, 2014, Board of Supervisors hearing, and was granted it (unanimously, I might add). This was during the time in which District 2 had no Supervisor. Said approval was made contingent upon a brick facade and limited operating hours. Nary a word of said request was provided to this blog. Disconcertingly, it appears variances fly out of this Board like moon pies at Mardi Gras.

Troy,
Rankin Co doesn't have a "planning commission."

I stumbled across a document yesterday that stated the pawn shop on Old Fannin last year asked for and received a variance to install a shooting range. I must've missed the small sign in the front notifying everyone of the public hearing.

The shooting range was announced a year or so ago and I believe discussed on this blog.
I had heard rumors of numerous businesses supposedly opening in front of the bowling ally (Tunnel CarWash site). I know the residents of Regatta will enjoy that...
