This Week at the Rez

This week's email is below:

·         B.A.S.S. Open starts Thursday
The Bass Anglers Sportsman Society's three-day Central Open begins Thursday at Madison Landing. Daily blast offs at the opening to Main Harbor will begin at 7 a.m. Weigh-ins will begin at 3 p.m. Thursday and Friday at Madison Landing, and at 4 p.m. on Saturday at Bass Pro Shops in Pearl. A total of 199 pros and 199 co-anglers will fish the first two days, but only the top 12 in each division will fish the final round on Saturday. All events are open and free to the public. While Madison Landing will remain open to local boaters, it is suggested that another ramp might make for a more enjoyable experience. Residents should expect extra traffic during the 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. period around the Madison Landing and Rice Road areas.

·         Rez tags good for park entry

Vehicles with the new Barnett Reservoir license plates will get free entry to all parks at The Rez, thanks to action taken by the Pearl River Valley Water Supply District board of directors at its February meeting. The new tags, now available at tax collectors offices throughout Mississippi, cost $31 in addition to normal taxes. Most of the additional costs benefit PRVWSD. Later this spring and throughout the summer, a $5 traffic fee will be charged at Lakeshore, Old Trace and Pelahatchie Shore Parks on weekends and holidays.
