Digital Billboard Variance Request

Information was posted on the Reservoir Community District Facebook page this morning concerning the zoning variance requested by a digital billboard company for a sign on Old Fannin Road.  Here is the post:

FYI Capturion Network, LLC is requesting a dimensional variance for an LED billboard on Lot 2 of Avalon Centre. The sign ordinance states no permitted sign shall be placed nearer than 1500 feet from the boundary line of any lot of a platted subdivision. A map is attached with the 1500’ radius shown in red. The billboard would be closer than 1500’ to 6 platted subdivisions. The Planning Commission will meet 4/30/15 in the Board of Supervisors meeting room at 9:00 a.m. and set the public hearing for 5/15/15.

Again, if you have not joined this Reservoir Community District (the Overlay) Facebook Page, I encourage you to do so.  A lot of good information is coming through it.

Oh that will look real nice! What's with these people -- do they honestly think it would look nice -- I mean, let's see how much junk we can put in one surrounding area. The strip center sitting directly in front of another strip center still rattles my brain! Geeze!!

Or the drive-through car wash that's going in right next to the strip center in front of the strip center.

...Across the from the drive through carwash

Is this the empty lot where the building burned awhile back next to the animal hospital?

PRV a few years back was going to allow one right on the corner across from McDonalds on Spillway but my husband Jim McDowell put a stop to that. All they care about is money.

Agreed. So much miss Mr. Jim McDowell for keeping us informed, holding the powers that be accountable, and exuding his passion for the Rez area with all of us.

This is NOTHING compared to the request for variance to zoning on property on Spillway Road by Fred's which is zoned commercial. The request for variance is the equivalent to industrial zoning for another storage business. Seven metal buildings and open storage for motor homes, campers, boats on trailers, heavy equipment, etc. are planned. Just ride by and look at the storage facility on Grant's Ferry Road. This is THE ENTRANCE to the Reservoir. We do not need another eye sore or a storage facility here. Please join the Reservoir Community District Facebook page. PLEASE ATTEND THE MAY 4 SUPERVISORS MEETING in Brandon where the five supervisors will vote on this variance.
