Meet the Supervisor Candidates

Below is an email from the Federation of Reservoir Home Owners:

The Federation of Reservoir Homeowners (FRH) is hosting "Meet the Candidates for Supervisor in District 2 and District 5" on May 5th at 6:00 p.m., at the Northwest Rankin Middle School. This will give everyone an opportunity to learn what is important to each candidate and what their vision is for the future.

Candidates for District 2 Supervisor: Kyle Brown (R), Daniel Cross (R), and Derrel Palmer (R).

Candidates for District 5 Supervisor: Jay Bishop (R), Milton Brown (D), and Ronnie Garner (R).

Many of us consider the office of County Supervisor as the most important elective office because it impacts our lives on a daily basis. Some of the responsibilities are:
1. Approves the county budget
2. Sets millage rates to balance the budget
3. Contracts businesses to provide garbage pickup, ambulance service, mosquito spraying, and many more services.
4. Approves zoning and land usage for county land. Also serves as the county Planning Commission.
5. Oversees and makes decisions about Nuisance Property
6. Serves as our Long Range Planning Commission in matters that impact our future such as: new Courthouse, new Wastewater Treatment Plant for Rankin County, and many other projects that impact our county as we continue to grow.
7. Roads, bridges and infrastructure
8. Makes decisions about what we can and cannot do in the Reservoir Community District along with the PRV.
9. Works with state and federal agencies and the legislature to improve our daily lives.
These are a few of the reasons why we need to elect candidates that will represent us in a manner that will help the Reservoir Community District continue to prosper.
