The Mississippi Wildlife Extravaganza -- not-so-affectionately referred to by my wife as "Mistletoe for Men" -- is this weekend at the Mississippi Trademart on the Fairgrounds. This event is put on by the Mississippi Wildlife Federation, and generates the funds necessary for the MWF's many community events and service projects. This event has much to offer the whole family, not just the males.
Family events include:
Hand-grabbin' catfish, the famous High Flyin' Retrievers, a Youth archery range, and a youth pellet gun range. There are plenty of shows for the whole crew, including Herpetologist Terry Vandeventer, Turkey whisperer Preston Pittman, and animals and their experts from the Natural Science Museum. The whole schedule of shows and events can be found on page 21 of this link.
Tomorrow, kids 12 and under get in free. After that, they are $5. Adults are always $10 a day.
Tomorrow, the doors open at 3 p.m., and don't close until 9 p.m.
Saturday, the doors open at 9 a.m. and close at 7 p.m.
Sunday, the doors open at 10 a.m. and close at 5 p.m.
