9/11 Memorial Run/Walk

The Annual 9/11 Memorial Run is significantly restrained this year. Participating firefighters, policemen, and any others that care to join, will leave Lakeshore Park at 7 a.m. on Friday, September 11 for the eleven mile trek around Pelahatchie Bay. There is no charge. Many were concerned the focus was slipping; the firefighters desired a return to solemnity.

Reservoir residents are encouraged to line the running/biking trail around Pelahatchie Bay on Friday morning, wave American flags, and pay tribute to the fallen heroes.

From the Reservoir Fire Department's Facebook Page:

Please come join your local Firefighters, Law Enforcement, and Military members for the annual 9/11 run! This will take place Friday 9/11 at 0700 hrs, we will meet at Lakeshore Park and run/walk the 11 mile running trail around Pelahatchie Bay in honor of all who lost their lives on that fateful day. There is NO entry fee the only requirement is to BRING AN AMERICAN FLAG and waive it PROULDLY!!!

I was at the National September 11 Memorial & Museum last week, which was remarkable. One of the interesting things that I saw though, there is no memorial of any kind in the state of Mississippi, according to the searchable database located in the museum. I know of the annual 9/11 run that takes place around the Rez, but there is not a single brick and memorial or anything. That surprised me.
