In 2016, the voters of Rankin County will elect a Congressman, Chancery Judge, Supreme Court Judge, Court of Appeals Judge, County Election Commissioners, certain Rankin County School Board Members, and President of the United States.
Qualification for Congressman already terminated. Congressman Harper has nominal opposition. The qualifying deadline for judicial positions is ongoing. Incumbent Chancery Judge John McLaurin already has a challenger, Jim Nix, who ran unsuccessfully for the open seat last year. Court of Appeals Judge Kenny Griffis will challenge Supreme Court Justice Jim Kitchens.
The qualifying deadline for Election Commissioners won't take place until June 6. School Board qualifying is September 9. School Districts 1 and 2 will be voted on this year. That is David Dyess and Kym Jamison.
