Spring is the time for 5Ks. They are fun, they are not long enough to induce panic -- no matter your fitness level (at worst, you can walk 5 kilometers in an hour) --, and you can say you accomplished something before 9 a.m. Plus, you get a t-shirt. Look for these area races coming up:
4/1 -- Run Now Wine Later, Ridgeland (kicks off the Sante South Wine Festival; benefiting Alzheimer's research).
4/2 -- Rush to Brush, Flowood (great door prizes; benefiting pediatric dentistry offered through UMC Dental School).
4/2 -- Racin' for the Seed Duathlon (run and bike), Rez (it's for the Seedsters!)
4/9 -- MS 811, Flowood (actually has a reasonable registration fee; benefits MS Damage Prevention Council)
4/9 -- Running for Jason, Brandon (in memory of Marine SSgt Jason Rogers, a Brandon native killed while fighting in Afghanistan).
4/16 -- Race for Shelby, Flowood (Shelby Neese is a former music minister for Pine Lake church in need of financial assistance due to injuries).
4/16 -- A Race to Remember, Ridgeland (Celebrating life and benefiting Hospice Ministries).
