Municipal Elections

2017 heralds in the year of the municipal elections.  That won't effect many of us on the Rankin County side of the Rez, but it does on the Madison County side.

Candidate qualifying began yesterday.

The qualifying deadline runs through March 3, 2017.

Voter registration deadline is April 1, 2017 at noon.

May 2, 2017, is election day for party primaries.  Keep in mind, only two municipalities in Rankin County hold party primaries, Pearl and Brandon.  May 16 is the runoff, if necessary.

June 6, 2017, is the general election day.  The winners of the party primaries in Pearl/Brandon, and the remaining municipalities, hold their elections.

Info gathered indicates the incumbent mayors of Richland and Pelahatchie will not run for re-election. Pearl mayor, Brad Rogers already has a challenger in Jake Windham.
