Longtime PRVWSD Board Member Passes Away

The obituary for Jim Carraway is below.  Jim served his state in many capacities.  He served our area as a member of the board of directors for the PRVWSD.  Note, the visitation is tomorrow evening.

Jim Carraway, 82, passed away Saturday, May 6th at his home in Brandon, MS.
He was born November 7, 1934 to Wood and Lela Carraway of Bassfield.  Jim was a graduate of Bassfield High School and the University of Southern Mississippi, where he was a member of Alpha Tau Omega Fraternity.
 Jim had a long and active work life with both private and public service, which included:  Director of Wildlife and Fisheries, MS State Air and Water Pollution Board, MS Manufacturers Association Board, Pearl River Valley Water Supply District Board, BIPEC Board, USM Executive Committee Alumni Association and USM Foundation Board.  He worked for St. Regis Paper Company in Monticello and then retired from Champion International in Stanford, CT.  He was active in the Jeff Davis Country Forestry Association in retirement.  He was an active member at Fannin United Methodist Church.
 Jim is survived by his wife of 59 years, Mary Catherine Carraway, two sons Kirk Carraway (wife Cindy) and Ken Carraway (wife Beth), both of Brandon.  He is preceded in death by his oldest son, David Carraway (wife Mary Lynne) of McLean, VA.  Jim had nine grandchildren who he loved dearly – Clinton, Amanda, Graham (wife Olivia), Molly, Kristina, Coleman, Carson, Brandon and Hannah.
 The family would like to express heartfelt appreciation to Jim’s sitters for the loving care they gave during his last few months.
 Visitation will be Tuesday, May 9th from 5-7 pm and Memorial Service on Wednesday, May 10th.  The location for both is Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Brandon.  The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Fannin United Methodist Church (2851 Hwy. 471 Brandon, MS  39047) or Blair E. Batson Children’s Hospital.
