Cougar Club Fundraiser

Below is an email circulated to area businesses.  If you are interested in being a part of this, I encourage you to contact Jeff or Toby directly (phone numbers are below) for more info.

The Northwest Rankin Cougar Club would like to offer everyone in the Flowood and Brandon Reservoir community an opportunity to help in a massive fundraising effort at Northwest Rankin High School (NWR). The Cougar Club is an all-sports booster club that was created by Coach Jeff McClaskey and Coach Toby Collums roughly 18 months ago with the goal being to raise much needed funds to make our athletic department what it deserves to be, the absolute best in the state of Mississippi. As you know, the Flowood area is one of the fastest growing areas in Mississippi, so obviously the NWR school zone is booming as well. Team sports and school clubs are a driving force behind all communities because they help in bringing members of that community together. Here at NWR we have more than 30 sports and clubs which encompass more than 800 students and student athletes. With all this being said, you can see the need for you and our community to come together and help give these youth the absolute best high school experience that we can offer. I have attached several different opportunities for you to review that would show your support of our students and the community.  These possibilities range from basic advertisement such as signage, to commercials via our wifi sports coverage and/or video board corporate sponsorships. Your consideration in this endeavor would be greatly appreciated by all of our children here at Northwest. If you have any questions feel free to contact our Athletic Director Jeff McClaskey @ 601-573-7522 or Assistant Athletic Director Toby Collums @ 662-401-9915. We truly look forward to hearing from you and GO COUGARS!

Green Market and Craft Fair at Dogwood

Every Saturday, 11 a.m. through 3 p.m., through August 26, 2017, Dogwood Festival Mall hosts the Green Market and Craft Fair.  From their Facebook Page:

The Dogwood Festival located at 150 Dogwood Boulevard in Flowood MS is hosting its annual Green Market and Craft Fair beginning Saturday June, 10th. Every Saturday, beginning June 10th and extending through August 26th, this market and craft fair will be held from 11am-3pm. Shoppers have an opportunity to browse among the areas best produce, baked goods and local crafters in one unified location.

There is a lot of foot traffic in this shopping center! This invitation extends to a variety of local vendors and crafters. This would be a great opportunity for you to sale your goods in an established market and promote yourselves in the community.

We are encouraging you to set up a display of your crafts, baked good or other cottage industry items, as well as your produce.

If you would like to join us to bringing your goods to the community, please contact Brandi at 775-224-3231 or brandi.sonicboomnv@yahoo.com, or Eric at 775-250-7908 or sonicboomnv@yahoo.com.

Feathered Cow is Open -- Enjoy!

I predict The Feathered Cow will be a long-standing success in the Reservoir.  My wife and I ate lunch there yesterday.  Every new restaurant has kinks; however, management was on top of everything. The set up, the atmosphere and food were all good.  My wife ordered Wings and Things -- the fried chicken was as good as Julep's was.  I ordered the Stupid Burger -- I should have saved half for supper, it was so big.  The Rez needed this.

Look For The Feathered Cow to Open Monday

Rezidents patiently wait the opening of The Feathered Cow. According to ownership, all they are waiting on is the State Department of Health to give them the green light, and are anticipated to open Monday the 19th.  A sneak peak at the Rez menu below.

Sunset Concert Series is Still ON!

MEDIA RELEASE
EFFECTIVE IMMEDIATELY
1 June 2017
Sunset Concert Series finale still on for tonight
Chris Gill starts at 5:45 and Lisa Mills follows at Lakeshore Park

Tonight’s season finale of the Sunset Concert Series event will go on as scheduled, the Barnett Reservoir Foundation announced this morning. With diminishing rain chances forecast for the 5:45 start, the private non-profit group decided not to cancel.

Chris Gill, whose original concert on May 4 was postponed due to heavy thunderstorms, will start with his music that has made him one of the most popular local acts.

Hattiesburg native Lisa Mills, who now lives in Mobile, will close the night and the 2017 spring season.

“The combination of these two talents provides the perfect close to our first season,” said Foundation spokesman Bobby Cleveland. “We’ve had a great series, and have provided reservoir residents and visitors not only with great tunes but also a neighborhood feeling.”

Series sponsor The Crawfish King of Flowood will sell crawfish and shrimp dinners and the Foundation will sell beverages and hot dogs. No outside food and beverages will be allowed.
Admission is minimal —just $5 a carload and free to cars that have Reservoir tags. Walk-ups and bike-ins pay just a $1.
